Full-time CFS Professorial-Asian and Near Eastern Languages (Chinese), may be filled with visitor (Provo, Utah)

Required Degree: PhD in Chinese linguistics, Classical Chinese, Chinese literature, Chinese language acquisition or pedagogy, or a related field. Candidates who are ABD may be considered.
The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience:
The successful candidate will have native or near-native fluency in Chinese and English, and experience teaching all levels of Chinese at the postsecondary level using proficiency-based, communicative methods. Experience teaching Chinese linguistics or Classical Chinese is preferred.

Duties/Expectations:
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong aptitude and enthusiasm for teaching Chinese content and language courses from beginning to advanced levels; curriculum development; and maintaining an active research and publishing agenda. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in research, teaching, mentoring, and service to the department, college, and university.
Desired qualification includes experience with in-country intensive language program coordination (study abroad); teacher training and materials development. The expected load for this position is 3-2-1, including language classes at all levels and courses in the individual’s area of specialization that support the Chinese major and minor, Asian Studies, and Masters of Professional Language (MAPL).
