Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in Chinese Language in World Languages and Cultures (Campus Faculty) (Salt Lake City, Utah)
The Department of World Languages & Cultures at the University of Utah invites applications for a full-time, renewable Assistant Professor (Lecturer) position in Chinese beginning January 1, 2027. The teaching load is twelve credits per semester or equivalent (for reference, most language classes are four credits). The successful candidate will be prepared to teach Chinese language courses at all levels and content courses such as culture, media, and/or translation as well as to participate actively in curricular and program affairs. Preference will be given to candidates that have a Ph.D. in hand by the start date in Chinese literature, Chinese pedagogy, linguistics, Chinese studies, or a related field. Demonstrated experience in teaching Chinese as a foreign language at the college level in North America and native or near-native fluency in Chinese and English are required. Adaptability with instructional technologies, experience practicing modern foreign language teaching methodologies, and demonstration of active participation in the professional field are highly desirable.
