POSITION SPECIFICS
The Department of Asian Studies at Penn State (University Park) invites applications for a full-time Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor position in Chinese (non-tenure-track), to begin in January 2026, with flexibility.
Responsibilities include teaching introductory to advanced Chinese language courses, as well as participation in programmatic service. Teaching load is six courses per year.
Minimum requirements include a Master’s degree in Chinese pedagogy, second language acquisition, linguistics, or a related discipline, and near-native ability in Chinese, as well as facility in English. Demonstrated excellence in teaching Chinese is preferred. Rank is determined by education and qualifications.
Evidence of teaching effectiveness is required for higher-level ranks.
