The Department of Chinese and Japanese at Vassar College invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor or Instructor of Chinese for the 2022-2024 academic years.

Position Description
Candidates with expertise in any one or several of the following fields are desirable: Chinese linguistics including comparative linguistics or comparative philology with a Chinese concentration, language pedagogy, Chinese literature, comparative literature with a Chinese concentration, Chinese pop culture, and Chinese theater or film. Experience in Chinese language teaching is expected. The successful applicant must have a PhD or be ABD by the time of appointment. Responsibilities include teaching four Chinese language courses and one course in the candidate’s discipline per academic year as well as advising students and supervising students’ independent work.
