Visiting Assistant Professor in Modern Chinese Literature and Culture Studies (Iowa City, IA)
The Department of Asian and Slavic Languages and Literatures in the Division of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University of Iowa seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor in Modern Chinese Literature and Culture Studies for the Academic Year 2022-2023 (Fall 2022-Spring 2023).
The successful candidate will teach courses in modern and contemporary Chinese literature and culture, including cinema and popular culture, and Chinese language. The normal teaching load is six courses per year but it is contingent upon enrollment. The successful candidate will collaborate with our faculty in programmatic service.
Required qualifications:
• Ph.D. in Modern Chinese literature and culture studies which must be in hand by the time of appointment.
• Native or near native fluency in English and Chinese
• Strong evidence of excellent, innovative teaching to undergraduate students in North America
Desirable qualifications:
• Experience of teaching upper-level language courses
• Potential for scholarly production
