BLCUP Award for K-12 Professional Development

Funded by the Beijing Language and Culture University Press, the BLCUP Award for K-12 Professional Development supports K-12 instructors to engage in professional development activities by presenting at the CLTA-US Annual conference. The BLCUP Award for K-12 Professional Development supports up to six awardees each year with a total amount up to $1,500. The awardee(s) will also be invited to submit a manuscript based on their conference presentations to be considered for publication in the journal K-12 Chinese Language Teaching.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for this award, the applicant must be:

  • A current CLTA member
  • A Chinese language teacher in elementary, middle, or high school, including public, private, charter, and weekend enrichment schools

To apply:

  1. Have already submitted a proposal in the category of individual papers or technique demonstrations to the CLTA spring conference.
  2. By January 15, 2022, submit an application form to the K-12 Committee.
  3. By February 15, 2022, applicants will be contacted by the K-12 Committee.

Applicants will be evaluated by K-12 Committee members and Regional Associations K-12 Representatives employing standard criteria including indicators in the areas of curriculum development, classroom instruction, and creativity. Award recipients will be announced before the CLTA-US Annual Conference. The name(s) of the awardee(s) will also be reported in the CLTA Newsletter and on the CLTA website.
